Durability and reliability are the two most important elements you should seek for in any staple gun. However, finding the one with both of these parameters can be quite tricky, especially if you don’t know how or where to search. There are plenty of models on the market at the moment, but only a handful of them are worth checking out. The others are either of poor quality or expensive.
If you’re looking for a decent unit, take a look at our reviews, and you should be able to find something for yourself. We try to offer as much insight as we can so that you can purchase a staple gun without worrying about overpaying or ending up with a low-quality tool in your hands. Arrow Fastener T50 – The Basics
When it comes to reliable and simple staple guns, this particular one is a great choice. Although it’s only an entry-level tool, it offers a lot of possibilities. If you’re a devoted DIY enthusiast, you’re going to love the Arrow Fastener T50.
Apart from being extremely easy to use, it also has a jam-resistant design and durable chrome finish. It is made of steel, but the chrome finish makes it aesthetically appealing and adds durability. Simple projects like stapling hard or soft wood are a piece of cake for this particular model. However, it’s not recommended for large-scale tasks because you may stumble upon some performance issues with prolonged use.
The Features
The design
As usual, the design is pretty conventional. It looks the same as any other staple gun with a few notable differences and an overall better performance. The first thing people notice about the design is the sturdiness and durability of steel. The unusual thing is the weight of this product. One would expect a heavy tool considering the fact that it’s made of steel. However, it only weighs around 1.4 pounds. As you can assume, the worries about fatigue and pain are non-existent with this particular model. You can work for hours without having to take a break.
The handle isn’t as soft as it is on some other models we’ve covered, but it’s also not too stiff. In fact, it’s right there in the middle. However, if you have a health condition such as arthritis, you might want to look for some other model with a softer lever.
Anti-jam mechanism
Although it doesn’t have an anti-jam mechanism per se, the unit is designed so that it prevents jamming in the first place. Also, if you’re unlucky enough to experience the annoying thing called jamming, all you have to do is pull the magazine out and put it right back in. If the problem persists, keep repeating the process, and you’ll unjam it fairly quickly.
It’s simple and easy to use
As with all other manual models, simplicity and straightforwardness are of utmost importance. You don’t want a complex tool for minor household repairs because it’s not worth the hassle. Instead, you should aim for the simplest one on the market. Although this particular one may not be the simplest, it’s pretty close.
Things we liked about it
There are a ton of things we liked about this particular model, but the biggest one is its durability. The reason is simple – steel is far better than aluminum, especially for smaller projects. It can withstand quite a beating meaning you don’t have to panic if it suddenly falls out of your arms because it probably won’t take much damage at all.
The second thing is, of course, the price. We’ve all seen the super-expensive models, and we know they work great. However, not everyone has the financial power to cope with the market. Thanks to the great engineering, the Arrow Company has managed to construct a high-quality staple gun and make it affordable and accessible to people who are on a tight budget. Therefore, if you don’t have too much money, to begin with, take a moment and consider investing in this particular model, it’s worth every penny.
Things we didn’t like
One notable shortcoming is the lack of safety. We cannot emphasize enough how important safety actually is, especially when metal projectiles are in question. A vast majority of staplers have a safety release, but this one doesn’t. While it may be a pretty irrelevant fact for many, we find the lack of safety concerning and significant.
The stiffness of the handle can also be considered as a disadvantage, especially for women. More than a few female customers have reported difficulties with pushing the lever. While we didn’t experience any, it doesn’t mean you won’t have an issue with it. However, if you’re a person of average strength, there shouldn’t be any problems.
General user impressions
People seem pretty satisfied with this product in general. There are some things they don’t like, but it’s an expected outcome; it can’t all be perfect. The goal is to find the one with the least disadvantages.
As far as we are concerned, it’s a tool worth investing in. Speaking of investing, it’s not a big expense after all. If you consider the fact that it’s coming from the Arrow Company, the price is more than acceptable. Overall, it’s a neat entry-level tool suitable for anyone, even people with limited budgets.
Conclusion
This particular model is a great solution for occasional home repairs and smaller DIY projects. However, if you had a project of bigger scale in mind, try finding something with more penetration power like an electrical model. These manual ones simply don’t work very well when massive projects are in question.
The overall usefulness of this product exceeds the shortcomings meaning it’s a tool worth checking out. If you don’t find it interesting enough, go ahead and read some of our other full reviews, you might find something of interest.
