Review Summary:
Buying a power tool should be a pretty important thing for all enthusiasts. More often than not, people do find the suiting model for themselves and enjoy its features. However, you would be surprised by the fact that a lot of individuals don’t know what to look for in a chainsaw and they consequently end up with a subpar model in their hands that is more than likely also overpriced due to certain factors such as branding or aesthetic appeal. Needless to say, if you don’t know what you are looking for, take a moment and check our reviews out and they might offer you a better insight into the matter.
We are here to help you choose by offering as much information as possible about a certain model so that you can estimate whether or not it’s the one you’re looking for. Therefore, instead of wandering on the Internet looking for information, you can find everything in one place. ZCS12017 is a great saw for a vast array of applications.
Specifications:
- Power – 13 amps
- Bar length – 16 inches
- Weight – 12 pounds

- Chain tensioning knob
Zombi ZCS12017 – The Basics
This model is the newest one on our list. This new generation of Zombi chainsaws is relatively lightweight, powerful, and most importantly – affordable. As far as ideal applications go, you can tackle almost any project you set your mind to as long as it’s within the limits of this machine. Speaking of limits, you can expect a good amount of power thanks to the 13amp motor meaning it can tackle any DIY project and even some light-duty professional ones.
The safety is at a satisfactory level. In fact, it’s slightly more improved in comparison to some previous generations making it a perfect piece for inexperienced users. On the other hand, make sure you read the user manual before you turn the machine on for the first time, regardless of your previous experience with these tools.
The Features
The design
The design of this chainsaw is innovative, comfortable, and surprisingly enough – aesthetically appealing. If you’re looking for a mean-looking machine, take a look at the picture, and you’ll see why this particular one might be a good choice. The hand grips are coated with rubber meaning you will not feel as many vibrations as you would expect. On the other hand, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any vibrations whatsoever.
The chain tensioning knob is a neat addition, but it could have been designed better. There is nothing wrong with the design per se, but the knob sometimes tends to turn on its own due to friction against wood. In other words, if it were slightly narrower, the problem wouldn’t exist at all. The throttle trigger is quite large meaning you don’t have to put your fingers in a peculiar position while using the machine. Furthermore, it also reduces fatigue due to its large size and easy access.
As far as the ease of use goes, it’s okay. The machine isn’t too complex, but it also isn’t the simplest one around. However, as long as you refer to the user manual, there shouldn’t be any issues with the components.
Safety
The safety features are standard but acceptable. Low kickback tip is a great addition both for professionals and DIYers. The safety lock button prevents you from accidentally starting the machine which is a great thing because most people never think about it and consequently end up injured.
Pros:
Great aesthetics
Comfortable
Easy to start and use
Cons:
The chain lacks quality but is easily replaceable
Things we liked about it
The first thing we liked is the visual appeal. Although it has nothing to do with the overall performance of this model, one can’t ignore the artistic design. On a more serious note, the unit performs exactly as advertised. This might not seem like an impressive advantage, but getting what you paid for is definitely a rarity nowadays. Therefore, you can rest assured that you’ll get your investment back in the form of a high-quality corded chainsaw.
The quick start and safety lock button are two of our favorite things as far as the conveniences go. They are a great addition to an already versatile machine and are extremely helpful both for professionals and hobbyists.
Things we didn’t like
There are very few things we didn’t like about this model. The machine is quite new and as such doesn’t have much feedback from the users yet. In other words, every information that we get should be taken with a grain of salt. Now, that doesn’t mean we offer false insights, but most of the capabilities we have mentioned are susceptible to change.
The only thing we could nitpick is the oil cap. While it’s a pretty standard one, we would have liked to see a low-profile one. The included cap can get in the way, especially if you’re wearing large protective gloves. However, it’s far from a significant disadvantage, to say the least.
General user impressions
As we said, the model is relatively new and therefore it isn’t as popular as some older generations. However, the people who bought it seem pretty pleased with its overall performance, and especially the design. It’s an easy-to-use unit with a decent amount of cutting power – what more could one ask?
As far as the ideal applications go, if you’re a professional, then you might want to look for something with a bit more power. However, if you’re an occasional user, don’t hesitate to check it out.
Conclusion
If you’re aiming for aesthetic appeal combined with decent performance, the Zombi ZCS12017 might be a good solution. It has decent features, good safety mechanisms, and most importantly – an acceptable price for people on a budget. The overall comfort of the machine is okay, but it could have been a bit better. It doesn’t cause much fatigue, but it all depends on your physical shape.
If you don’t want to spend a great deal of money on a single power tool, take a moment and check this one out. Also, if you’re looking for simplicity, easy start, and almost no maintenance, this might be a good solution.
